The Ultimate family wine country playground
Nestled in Franz Valley, Sonoma County, Quail Hill sits on a 10 acre parcel midway between Calistoga, Saint Helena and Healdsburg. Perched on top of a hill, a 360 degree view reveals Mount St Helena, rolling hills and lovely local vineyards. The property itself consists of a 5 acre vineyard (Pinot noir and Chardonnay) and 125 olive trees which surround a home and landscaping conducive to outdoor living and recreation.
The primary house consists of a living room centered around a gracious stone fireplace, a dining room and a large, well appointed kitchen perfect for an enthusiastic chef and lots of friends around the center Island. There are three king bedrooms and three full bathrooms in the main house.
Just off the back patio sits a guest cabin. This house consists of one king bedroom, one double twin bedroom, a small TV room and two full bathrooms.
A third building in front of the main house to the left off the circular driveway contains a two car garage and a fully equipped home gym. The second story holds a large media room and a king guest bedroom with a full bathroom.
Though very cozy in the winter with its log cabin feel, Quail Hill is conducive to wonderful outdoor living during the spring summer and fall. A large outdoor patio contains a complete outdoor kitchen including a large barbecue, stove top, warming ovens, sink and a counter. You never have to go indoors! A long outdoor table sitting beneath a heated overhang invites meals and parties any time of the year.
Just off the back patio there is an outdoor fireplace next to a stone lined bocci ball court. Edison lights all around create a great party spirit. There’s plenty of room for cornhole and ball toss…favorite family sports. Down a sloping lawn rests a swimming pool overlooking the vineyard. A hot tub in the corner provides even more fun and a quick change of temperature!
We are a family of artists so seventeen years ago we built a large art studio. A potters wheel, flatbed etching press, large work table and multiple shelves of supplies invite all ages and experience levels to have a great time creating. This building also contains a laundry room and full bath.
Built into the hill close to the main house is a favorite spot on the property. A wine cellar built with old Austrian bricks contains arched covey shelves capable of storing approximately 1000 wine bottles. It’s the large 12 person party table spanning the length of the cellar that creates the fun. The cellar’s deceivingly old appearance creates a great atmosphere for enjoying food and wine in a unique setting.
Much of what we cook in the summer months comes from our vegetable garden, greenhouse and fruit trees.
